Meet Patrick

Hi! I’m Patrick. Based in the Pacific Northwest, I work full time as an engineer while pursuing a master’s degree in aerospace engineering. The same curiosity that draws me to engineering also leads me to new places, experiences, and perspectives. As a certified weekend warrior, I make time between work and school for travel, the outdoors, and capturing the moments I want to remember through storytelling and film. Modern Adventure Journal brings these parts of my life together: what I’m making, the places I’m exploring, and the life I’m still building.

WHY THIS JOURNAL

Created Between Deadlines and Trailheads

This journal is my creative space beyond technical work

It gives me a place to slow down, notice more, and turn experiences into stories. It is also for people balancing demanding careers with the desire to see more of the world. Weekend warriors, thoughtful travelers, photographers, builders, and anyone who believes a meaningful life can be built beyond the boundaries of work.

I hope these stories encourage others to make time for curiosity, pursue the places that inspire them, and leave room for experiences that cannot be planned.

PRECISION IN PREPARATION. WONDER IN EXPERIENCE.

The Adventurer

Take the scenic route

Adventure asks me to leave familiar routines, adapt when conditions change, and trust the judgment experience has given me. The most memorable moments are rarely the ones that unfold exactly as expected.

Hiking, climbing, camping and travel are how I experience the world, learning to adapt as I go. Wild places offer a kind of perspective that is difficult to find anywhere else. They slow me down, test my assumptions, and remind me how small I am within a much larger world. They leave room for humility, wonder, and closer observation.

The Creator

Preserve more than a destination

Writing, photography, and film help me preserve more than a destination. I want to remember the atmosphere, movement, decisions, and small details that made an experience meaningful long after the journey is over.

I’m learning to turn places and experiences into stories through film. This is the side of me paying attention to a moment, finding a frame and working out how the pieces fit together in an edit. Modern Adventure Journal brings my interests together in one place. This is the side of me trying ideas, making things and finding ways to share the experiences I want to remember.

The Dreamer

Make room for what’s next

I think about the life I hope to build: a future home with room to breathe, perhaps a ranch, and journeys that keep opening up my view of the world. These are possibilities I’m drawn toward, not a finished plan.

Meaningful work, close relationships and time to explore are part of that picture. This is the side of me asking where I want to go, what matters most and how to make room for it.

The Engineer

Curious about how it works

Cars, aircraft, cameras, and the systems behind them first drew me toward engineering. That curiosity shapes how I observe design, solve problems, prepare for a journey, and appreciate the countless decisions behind something that works beautifully.

I work full time as an engineer while pursuing a master’s degree in aerospace engineering. This is the side of me drawn to understanding how things work, thinking through a problem and bringing a little structure to a new idea.
